Affiliate marketing and black owned fragrance brands

I independently review everything that is recommended. When you buy through my links, I may earn a commission. See more details here.

The following is what this brand marketing means for me and what I see for the world of the creator economy. There will be many black owned brands who will not get highlighted and will not see the huge uptick in sales and promotional content that we typically get to see with other brands who do affiliate marketing and can afford to do it. Take some time to also educate yourself on upcoming trends for the future of affiliate marketing here. I also recommend you attend any and all classes hosted by LTK, Shopmy, Tiktok, join the Discord servers and platforms for any affilate updates where possible. Staying in the loop is important.

I would like to state that this is the first occurrance of this problem for these brands. This is not an issue, but with the creator economy being one of the largest forms of advertising to come, many companies are putting big investments into the creator economy. I want to see us, black and brown people, included in those conversations.

This is what I am going to do. I am going to curate this post to be for all of the fragrance, beauty, and home decor brands that I find with affiliate links and that have affiliate programs.

The new programs that I am made aware of will have their links embedded into the post. This will do two important things:

  1. Bring me joy knowing that my research will highlight black owned brands and allow me to receive funding for the work that I am doing.

  2. This is not meant to take away from brand websites, you should continue to shop on them. But if there is a creator of any size who didn’t promote a brand because it wouldn’t earn them commissions, I hope there are more brands now that you are able to promote.

If you are someone who does affiliate marketing, my links will include codes to my affiliate programs. Be sure to visit the websites to create your own affiliate link. You will not receive credit if you copy and paste my link.

I want to inform you of a quick tip when it comes to affiliate links. If a customer clicks and shops the link within 24 hours (for most programs) you receive the credit. If they purchase outside of that window it becomes harder for systems to track and you lose your affiliate commission when they use engines like Honey and Rakuten (because they steal your commissions). Again, I cannot confirm this but this is believed to happen when people are shopping or when they change from web browser to apps.

This is to make you aware, don’t let affiliates be the ONLY reason you promote these brands. Let promoting and uplifting black people and their liberation be what guides you.

This is also great for those who want to do affiliates but only want to support brands that are black owned or align with their values.

Pinterest is also going to resurface a major player. The affiliate program with Amazon is automatically embedded making linking easier. This is a great time to promote and introduce new audiences to black owned brands. Target is also coming, but personally I do not shop at Target.

I added affiliate links as well as a product that I personally know and enjoy that can help you to become familiar with these brands.

CLR

CRL has been in business since 2020. They are a LGBTQIA2+ and Black owned brand that also donates a portion of their profits to community causes. This is definitely a brand that deserves recognition.

FORVR MOOD

Forvr Mood is founded by Jackie Asamoah and her husband Dennis.

Their brand mission is “FORVR MOOD is here to be your partner in self-care. To lift you up when you need it most, remind you to take up space unapologetically, and encourage you to embrace every part of who you are with pride.”

They have their own affiliate program through LTK.

FORVR MOOD

You can also recommend traffic to Sephora’s website.

Brown Sugar Babe

If you are living under a rock you have been missing out. Brown sugar babe dubs its self as “The Internet’s favorite body oils” and for good reason. Brown Sugar Babe has a limited catalog at Amazon but there are a few items you can promote.

Brown Sugar Babe

Brown Sugar Babe has their own affiliate program with codes for savings for those who partner directly with the company and they have affiliates through Shopmy.

Brown Girl Jane

Brown Girl Jane has affiliate links with Sephora on different websites. I can’t shut up about how gorgeous I think Chalet is. Definitely a great one to talk about.

Octavia Morgan

From the brand “This is fragrance for those who want to feel present, powerful, and deeply about themselves.”

Octavia Morgan catalog can be found at Ulta! They just started adding discovery sets in-store for people to try. I hope more stores will eventually carry full bottles.

Octavia Morgan

Octavia Morgan is also available at Amazon. You know what excites me about the Amazon promotion? It can be linked to pins on Pinterest.

Moodeaux

Punk star is immediately on my wishlist. Here is the product description from the brand.

“Juicy dark fruit tinged with a hint of saffron smolders alongside incense, rose and peppery cedar leaves wrapped in leather, combining both feminine and masculine auras for supreme depth and richness.”

Do you know anyone who likes these kind of notes?

OURSIDE

From the brand “Deliberately designed for non-conformers, free thinkers and eternal dreamers, Ourside combines unique experiences with familiar ingredients to create unconventional fragrances.”

Nostalgia calls to me with notes of: Top: mint, grapefruit, jasmine, violet leaf, and mimosa.
Middle: vanilla, ylang ylang, and cedar
Bottom: peru balsam, amber, and patchouli.

Danse Sauvage by World of Chris Collins Perfume Bottle

WORLD OF CHRIS COLLINS

A brand that curates fragrances that all feel like luxury and date-night ready. Chris Collins doesn’t shy away from unique gorgeous scents. It makes so much sense why it can be found at so many retailers.

WORLD OF CHRIS COLLINS

ZERNELL GILLIE

There are a ton of fantastic fragrances to choose from when it comes to the creations by Zernell Gillie. The most popular and one of my top favorites has to be R&B.

You need to have at least 5,000 followers to apply to Luckyscent.

ORENAS FRAGRANCES

The perfect company for all the scent layering needs. They have lotions, body oils, and perfume oils all in scents that are inspired by so many of my favorites.

Orena has affiliate codes for its ambassadors and this may be a program you need to be invited to.

As of writing this, I am not an Orena affiliate, but this link below will take you to one of their cult classics Caramel Vanilla inspired by Bianco Latte.

Etsy used to be a great resource for finding small black owned shops and for those who have transitioned into bigger and better platforms. I am happy for you. But is it me? Or am I having a fever dream that there was an option to search for black owned brands on Etsy. I found a few to highlight below and I had to search far and wide for these.

Elysium

NaturalsCo

House Of Lavander “I Am” Whipped Body Butter! Homemade body butter!

SugarMama

Fragrances

Nordstrom has a small but good assortment of many black owned brands. Here are some of the ones that I think deserve your attention.

HIMistry Naturals

Deborah lippmann

PAT McGRATH LABS

Macy’s, from what I can tell, has only one black owned perfume brand and they do have a few beauty brands. I want to highlight a few that I don’t typically see talked about.

MAIR

With notes of Jasmine, Orange Blossom, and Warm Musk I am intrigued by this fragrance and wondering why I have not heard of this brand. Both black owned and woman owned. This is one to get your nose on.

Flora & Noor

Fashion Fair

Rucker Roots

Maxaroma has one brand that was obvious to me that I know from my own research. There could be others I missed and you have to be in the know and do some digging to find them.

BLACK CLIFF

This is a black caribbean specificially Bajan-owned brand that can be found on retail websites such as Maxaroma and Scent Split. If I had to pick a fragrance that I really recommend, it is Sexy Eyes. I have not smelled this one yet but the notes definitely call out to me. Some key notes are Black currant, White Florals, and Hinoki.

HARLEM PERFUME CO.

I’ve talked about my love for this brand across so many posts. For anyone who wants to check them out, start with their discovery set.

Handle Candle Co.

This is one of my favorite candles I have purchased from the brand. All of their candles are in the remembrance of black historical figures and centered around the Harlem renaissance. Definitely a brand to check out.

Souk Honey by Oui the People perfume bottle

OUI THE PEOPLE

Oui the Poeple will become a household name and its debut fragrance, Souk Honey, is a delight to own. They have new releases coming soon and I hope you are ready for some amazing new launches. They are on Amazon (only their body products as of this writing), Sephora, and Tiktok Shop.

Dulce by Herb & Root Perfume bottle

HERB & ROOT

This is a newer brand to me that I have yet to get my nose on but when I found out they had these delectable affordable fragrances I knew I wanted to include them in my research. I personally want to try Dulce and Hummingbird.

Fenty by Fenty Beauty Perfume bottle

Fenty

Fenty released a fragrance that feels timeless. It’s not for everyone and that’s ok but it is perfect for me. Its signature scent worthy, its wedding worthy, its office friendly (sprayed gently), and perfect for special occasions. Its very versatile.

CHANCEUX PARFUM

Winter Tea is one of my newest and favorite purchases from this brand. It is a green tea with pine and can be layered or worn on its own.

CHANCEUX PARFUM

If you want to talk about or shop an assortment of fragrances from the brand you can try the Vault 1017 discovery set.

Love Jones candle by FRÈRES BRANCHIAUX

FRÈRES BRANCHIAUX

This is a black family owned candle brand that is on Amazon and Target. It looks like production paused in 2025 but I am hoping they resume production and come back soon.

4 set of the kaer body oils

KAER

Kaer is a new brand I came across on Tiktok and this is a brand I will be purchasing and reviewing. They have a discovery set that will be used as a good point to start checking out the brand.

Skincare Bakery Set of perfume bottles

SKINCARE BAKERY

This is a brand I come across daily on the Tiktok shop. They have celebrity collabs and new drops consistently. This is definitely one to check out and will always have an audience that loves their products.

Butter By Keba

This is a newer brand that I came across and they seem to have their own website and are located on Amazon.

koromas aromas discovery set

Koroma Aromas

This was one of the first black owned brands I came across and reviewed when I first joined Tiktok. They are a harlem based black owned company and are on Tiktok shop.

Canvas Beauty

This is a brand I have heard so many reviews about but I haven’t tried their products before. I found a discovery set they have on Amazon but they can be found both on Amazon and Tiktok Shop.

Fridays with Tab & Chance

This is a brand that I have come across a few times on social media but I need to get my nose on. I was pleasantly surprised when I found them on Amazon. I think Her Business is one I want to try first. They make perfumes, body washes, and lotions. The images for the brand all are about black love and thats beautiful.

BETTER WORLD FRAGRANCES

If you didn’t know Drake released a fragrance collection with a fragrance and matching candles. How is the scent you ask? Its actually good. If you’re a Drake fan this is the scent for you.

Poetic Jasmine Rollerball Perfume OIl

GOTS (Goddess of the Sea)

People cannot get enough of this brand. Personally I want to smell bend over but it continuously gets sold out. The next product people rave about in the comment section is Poetic Jasmine. This is definitely a brand that would be great to support and promote on Tiktok Shop.

1997 Fragrance oil by Parafragrances

parafragrances

This looks to be another black owned hidden gem that I haven’t heard anyone close to me promote or talk about. Their top seller with so many positive reviews is 1997 - Men's Fragrance Oil.

Perfected by Nature

Another black owned marshmallow scent! This brand has so many fragrances but this one caught my eye.

Vibrant Vapours Logo

Vibrant Vapours

This is a brand someone recommended to me fairly recently because they have a body oil that smells like Vanille Plantifolia by Guerlain. This is personally on my list to try. As of writing this article the shop is currently on pause and should be back soon.

LEIER FRAGRANCES

This is a fragrance I can’t wait to add my collection. I have heard so many great things and they are now on the Tiktok shop.

Rebel has notes of:

Top: Bergamot, Cardamom

Middle: Jasmine Sambac, Orange Flower, Vanilla

Base: Guaiacwood, Skin Musk, Praline, Indonesian Patchouli, Cut Hay, Tonka Bean, Amber Perfumer: Linda Song

So many more as well such as House of Val and so many others I will add once I find them.

Brands also have the ability to remove affiliate commissions at anytime on Tiktok so keep in mind products and company rules may change at any time.

Honorable mentioned brands that have their own website and deserve your attention: Savior Faire, E Beauty Collective, Justin B Perfumes, Alloy Studio, Good Vibes Perfume, Maya Njie, Pink MahogHany, Kimberly New York, Cillage Fragrances, Les Moore Fragrances, Forged Rose Fragrances and so many others.

Some beauty brands that also deserve your attention are: Juvias Place, 54 Thrones, Eadem, Topicals, Pattern Beauty, The Lip Bar, Black Girl Suncreen, Buttah Skin, NaturAll, Miche Beauty (Tiktok), Danessa Myricks (Tiktok & Sephora), Buttah Skin (Amazon & many other companies), Health Beauty After 40 (Tiktok Shop), and Omas Cosmetics (Tiktok Shop), Bask and Leather (Tiktok Shop), Glossed by Nae Skincare, and Body Baked Skincare, and Wolves & Willows (Tiktok Shop).

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with affiliate marketing. If done incorrectly it can damage a brands reputation. Learn the guidelines for your specific country and make sure that you are being honest and genuine at all times. Affiliate marketing takes time, work, and an audience who care about your recommendations.

Make sure to always disclose affiliate links and partner with brands for how you can promote them in a positive way. Use a combination of #ad, #paidlink, #affiliate, and #___partner where and when applicable. Make sure you have clear disclosures in the top of descriptions for videos.

If everything is completed correctly you can make a positive impact on brands, especially for myself who is curating my own brand, affiliate marketing is a smart, effective, and positive experience for all involved.
